In a strange start to the Eastern 1A season, the McDermitt High School volleyball team was facing Wells for the second time in two weeks.
The Lowry High School boys soccer team found itself on the opposite side of the school grounds this past Wednesday, to play its first match on its new field on Great Basin Drive.
Even though it is the middle of the season, the gym inside Lowry High School had a playoff atmosphere to it, this past Wednesday night.
After having its game with South Tahoe canceled, the Lowry High School football team found a last-minute replacement in the Pershing County JV last Thursday night. The Mustangs raced out to a 44-0 lead at halftime and went back to Lovelock with a 44-20 victory. Lowry outscored the Mustangs 20-0 in the second half off of touchdowns by Jordan Parker, Cole Jones and Max Mavity. Lowry is on the road Friday to take on Dayton at 4:30 p.m.
Coming off three tough losses on its home floor, the Lowry High School volleyball team was looking to get back on the winning track at Spring Creek on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
In a handful of games this year, the Lowry High School football team has put itself behind the 8-ball with slow starts in the first quarter.
The Lowry High School junior varsity football team improved to 3-21 on the season with a 45-6 win over South Tahoe this past Friday night in Winnemucca. The Buckaroos were dominant from the start and used four second-quarter touchdowns to take a 38-0 advantage. The entire second half was played with a running clock, with each squad scoring one touchdown. Lowry will face a stiff test on Thursday, as it hosts Pershing County on Thursday at 5 p.m.
The Lowry High School junior varsity boys soccer team scored a pair of goals in the first half and the score held up from there in a 2-0 victory at Spring Creek on Wednesday afternoon.
The Winnemucca Junior High School eighth-grade girls basketball team made quick work of its only game last Saturday in McDermitt as part of the Tri-County season.
The Lowry High School cross country team continued to show improvement as it took part in the Dayton Invitational on Friday, Sept. 16.
After a nine-day break, the Lowry High School junior varsity girls soccer team was back in action and the time off was not a factor.
The Lowry High School girls soccer team continued its winning ways with a 2-1 home win over Spring Creek on Wednesday afternoon in dusty and windy conditions. The match was tied 1-1 at halftime, when Bailey Sapien scored the winning goal in the second half. She had both goals for the Lady Bucks and Whitney Willey had another strong outing in goal. Lowry improved to 2-2-1 in the Northern 3A and 3-4-1 overall. Lowry is back in action Wednesday at Elko at 5 p.m.
There have been a few unexpected setbacks for the Lowry High School girls golf team this fall, but it looks like the tide finally may be turning to the side of the Lady Bucks.

The Lowry High School football team was looking to pick up its first win of the season, when it traveled to Reno last Friday to take on Wooster, who was also winless on the 2016 campaign.
