The fall season for the Nevada High School Rodeo Association concluded its fall season in Las Vegas from Nov. 18-20, with a number of strong finishes from the Humboldt County Rodeo Club.
For the first time this season, the Lowry High School girls basketball team faced an opponent that was not itself. The Lady Bucks held their annual alumni game on Saturday morning. In a back-and-forth battle throughout the contest, Lowry pulled away from its former counterparts to win 51-41.
Lowry High School had four players named to the Northern 3A all-league team for their play during the fall. The selections are made by the league’s 10 coaches.
There is no rest for the weary, as the winter sports season has started for Lowry.
McDermitt high school winter sports teams have been practicing for the last two weeks to prepare for its first contests of the year next week.
Lowry High School’s Shelby Garrison was named to the Northern 3A girls soccer second team as a forward. The all-league teams are selected by the league’s coaches. Garrison had a team-high 10 goals and four assists for the Lady Bucks.
The Lowry High School girls basketball team is now a week into its season and getting ready to defend its Northern 3A championship from a season ago. The Lady Bucks have won the last three regional titles. Lowry begins its non-conference schedule on Tuesday when it hosts Pershing County at 5:30 p.m.
The Lowry High School volleyball team was rewarded for its fourth-place finish in the Northern 3A, with three girls named to the respective all-league teams.
The winter sports season may be just a few days old, but the Lowry High School wrestling team is hard at work in the first week of practice.
Members of the Winnemucca Youth Football League made their way to Elko last weekend for the inaugural Battle Born Classic.
The Lowry High School cross country team closed out its season in fun style, with the Winnemucca Mountain Challenge last week. This is a tradition for Lowry Cross Country. The athletes are dropped off at the base of the mountain at Sage Heights and then they race up the face to the radio towers. The fastest boy and girl are crowned king and queen of the mountain. Will Kracaw made it up as the first boy in a time of 42 minutes, 20 seconds and Becca Kuskie was the queen of the mountain in a time of 54:10.
The Winnemucca Youth Football League took players from its various teams in the league to create a 16-man squad for the inaugural Battle Born Classic this weekend in Elko.
The Lowry High School volleyball team was in Fallon last weekend for the Northern 3A Regional Championships. The Lady Bucks took on South Tahoe in the semifinals and beat the Vikings 25-18, 25-13 and 26-24. Lowry moved on to the semifinals and lost to Truckee in four sets. The Wolverines went on to win the regional title.
FALLON — Going into last weekend’s Northern 3A Regional Championship in Fallon, the Lowry High School volleyball team went into the tournament with nothing to lose mindset.
Lowry High School’s Will Kracaw and Becca Kuskie participated in the NIAA 3A State Championships this past Saturday at Craig Ranch Park in Las Vegas.
