The Lowry High School JV baseball team won two of three games against South Tahoe this past weekend in Winnemucca.
The Humboldt County Rodeo Club made its way to Fallon on April 7-8 and had to deal with rainy and muddy conditions left from Mother Nature. Cade Bell led the way for Humboldt County boys and was the average winner in steer wrestling with a time of 13.660 seconds. Bell was third in the first go-around and won the second go-around in a time of 5.25.
The Winnemucca Little League junior teams hosted Fernley this past Saturday at the Winnemucca Sports Complex. The Junior Gold won both of its games 6-3 and 9-6. The Junior Blue lost to Fernley 13-4 and 23-4.
If you like offense, Monday’s Northern 3A softball game in Fernley was the perfect one for you. Lowry High School and Fernley finally made up their postponed game from March and the two league powers combined for 35 runs and 34 hits. The Vaqueros came out on top 19-16, dropping the Lady Bucks out of first place in the Northern 3A.
The Lowry High School track and field team made its first stop of last weekend at the Fernley Invitational on Friday, April 13. Rachel Garrison set a personal best in the discus at 124 feet, 9 inches to win the event by 21 feet.
Instead of traveling to Southern Nevada in mid-August, the Lowry High School football team opens its 2018 season in Winnemucca against Pahrump Valley on Friday, Aug. 17.
A handful of Lowry High School track and field athletes were in Reno last Saturday for the Northwest Invite at McQueen High School.
The way the Northern 3A baseball season is playing out, every game on the schedule is going to be important. The top three teams are starting to pull away from the rest of the pack but teams fourth through eighth are in a battle that is going to last the rest of the regular season.
Check off another weekend and three more wins for the Lowry High School softball team. The Lady Bucks outscored Dayton 33-3 in three games this past weekend in Winnemucca to extend their winning streak to 13 and improve to 13-1 in the Northern 3A and 13-4 overall.
What Mother Nature postponed last week, the Lowry High School softball team made up on Monday afternoon in Elko. The Lady Bucks concluded a three-game sweep of the Indians to move to 10-1 in the Northern 3A.
The Lowry High School baseball team closed out its series with Elko on Tuesday with a 15-0 loss to the Indians. The contest had to be made up after getting postponed due to weather last Saturday.
