NDOW busy with bears at Tahoe

VERDI - The Nevada Department of Wildlife captured a black bear in Verdi early in the morning of July 23 in the Gold Ranch area of Verdi. The bear was captured in a culvert trap set near a residence where the 6- to 7-year-old male bear was doing some damage to property. The bear weighed an estimated 325 pounds and had never before been handled by NDOW.

CARSON CITY - Whoever said the early bird gets the worm clearly never hunted for big game in Nevada. The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) wants to remind sportsmen that unless you do your homework before the hunt, a worm might be the only thing you do get.

Physio-chemical (pH, total dissolved solids, hardness, and total dissolved oxygen), organoleptic (odor and taste), compounds present in excess (nitrates, iron, sodium, sulfates, and fluorine), toxic compounds (arsenic, cyanide, lead, mercury, hydrocarbons, organochlorides and organophosphates) and bacteria are criteria for evaluating drinking water for humans and livestock.
