Alan Kermit Stein, 69, resident of Winnemucca, lost his battle with brain cancer at Life Care Center of Reno, Nevada on June 25, 2015. He was born on April 26, 1946 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Kermit Stein and Idealia Stein.
Jean Fowler, 89, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly June 16 at the Prineville Hospital in Prineville, in the presence of her closest and dearest friend, Jeanie Talbot.
Lyle Ray Broadway passed away on July 1, 2015 from a longtime illness with family by his side. Lyle was born on May 12, 1950 in Winnemucca, NV to Thomas Harvey and Mary Maxine Broadway. He was the youngest of 4 brothers and lived his whole life in NV. In 1962 his family moved from Cresent Valley to Battle Mountain where he remained the rest of his life. In 1970 he married the love of his life Sheila Richardson. They had two sons Raymond and Paul both of Battle Mountain.
Brandon Charles Hillock, age 38, of Winnemucca was taken from us suddenly as the result of a tragic accident. He is survived by his father David (Maria) Hillock, his mother Anita (Terry) Symonds, two half brothers, Jason (Krista) Sypher and Jeremy (Amy) Symonds, three nieces and one nephew.
Treva Faye (Mayo) Garcia of Superior Montana, passed away at 75 years old of pancreatic cancer on May 29, 2015 at the Saint Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula, MT. She was the daughter of Jasper Truman and Maude Ola Mae (Murphy) Mayo.
Maud Caravan, 85, passed away on June 19, 2015 at Humboldt General Hospital, surrounded by her family after battling cancer. Maud was born November 18, 1929 to Ben and Mary Cooper in Deer Lake, Newfoundland, Canada. Maud grew up in Deer Lake, where she met and married her husband, Walter and gave birth to their daughter, Judy. In 1957, the family set out for Nevada to join other family members. They lived in Dayton, Empire, Battle Mountain and finally Winnemucca.
Mary was born to Joe and Josephine Erquiaga on September 27, 1933 in Denio, Nevada. She was the tenth of 13 children. She attended grammar school in a one room school house while growing up and working the ranch. She attended the only public boarding school in the U.S. in Crane, Oregon. Crane Union High School was featured in Life Magazine during her time as a student. Upon graduation, she moved to Winnemucca, Nevada and became a telephone operator.
Robert “Bob” James Norris, 70, died at his home in Winnemucca, Nevada on June 23, 2015 of natural causes.
William Mathew Cooney, Jr., age 92, passed peacefully from this world on June 19, 2015 in Carson Tahoe Hospital after a brief illness. Bill was born in Condon, Oregon July 20, 1922 to William Cooney, Sr., and Grace Walker Cooney. Bill spent his early years in Denio, Nevada. Bill’s family later moved to Lovelock and while living there he enlisted in the Army Corps of Engineers and served as First Sergeant of Island Command at Guadalcanal. After his tour of duty, Bill returned to Lovelock where he married the love of his life, Gloria Rodrigues on June 26, 1948. During their married life, they called Lovelock, Las Vegas, Battle Mountain and most recently Gardnerville their home.
Dennis Wayne Ambrosini, a Loving Husband, Father, Grandpa, Brother, and Friend passed away on May 31, 2015, in Reno, Nevada surrounded by his family. Dennis was born May 27, 1951, in Eureka, California and at a very young age quit school and became a very skilled timber faller and heavy equipment operator while logging in Northern California to help support his family. Dennis spent most of his time logging between the Angels Camp and Mount Shasta areas.
Georgia Holmes Gore, 83, passed away in Topeka, KS on June 11, 2015. She married Jeff “Eddie” Gore Dec. 16, 1951. They had 3 children; Gregg Gore, Michelle Bahr and the late Eddie Gore.
Marcie Jo Putnam was born in Reno, Nevada, on May 17, 1965. She grew up and attended schools in Battle Mountain for most of her formative years.

Mary M. Reitz, passed away on June 10, 2015 at the age of 90. Mary was born in Gardnerville, NV and moved to Lovelock in 1944.
Casey Paul Sauers, born August 10, 1987 of Winnemucca NV passed away June 10, 2015 at the age of 27 as the result of a tragic accident. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
