Joe Ratliff wrote this open letter in response to the Humboldt County Road Superintendent’s request for comment and/or suggestions from residents in regards to terminating the magnesium chloride treatments on the dirt roads in the Tycana area:
Well was I surprised when we returned to the pool after the holidays!
Sir, you were elected to represent all the citizens of this country. You were not elected as an activist to incite racial division; you were not elected to degrade law enforcement, you were not elected to advocate for one segment of population while ignoring the concerns or needs of others. You were elected to represent all the citizens of this county, not a select few.

It’s entirely appropriate that the column “No more money down the LUPA rabbithole” was published as an editorial. If there’s one place for speculation, attention-baiting, and uninhibited first amendment expression, it’s the editorial section of the local paper.
