I am greatly disappointed that prior to writing an article indicating that Mark Amodei has not visited Lovelock during his campaign for CD2 the facts were not researched nor verified.
Last Thursday afternoon (Sept. 8), my sister and I pulled into a convenience store in Cedar Hill, Texas (just northwest of Austin), after a long, hot drive from Amarillo. We spotted a fire truck at the gas pump, and there were several weary-looking young men standing cleaning windows, pumping gas and performing various duties. On the back of one of the T-shirts a young man was wearing was "Winnemucca."
Last weekend my husband, daughter and myself traveled to Winnemucca from Alturas, Calif., to participate in the ACTRA State finals. This drive that normally only takes about four hours turned into an all-day endeavor. We left at 7:30 a.m. Saturday thinking we'd be there by noon and in plenty of time to rope that afternoon. After two blown tires and the time it took to drive back to a tire store to get replacements, we didn't end up arriving in Winnemucca until 5:30 p.m. This meant we missed the roping Saturday but knew we could still rope in Sunday's roping.

In these lean times, it looks like everyone is trying to make a dollar go a lot farther, which includes everyone from the front-line worker going to big super saver stores, to the elite that are heralded as our job creators.
Editor: It was our good fortune to be assisted in a tremendous way by one of your local businessmen and his friends. Eddie Booth and his friends Todd Goodale and Kurt (great guy from California) saved the day on Oct. 1, 2011.
Editor:I have a continuous issue, and I would like to hear the opinions from other Winnemucca citizens on this issue.
In response to the recent article on the road construction projects in Lander County, I noticed a few problems in the success of the projects. $213,625 for Kingston is a lot of money to squander away anytime, especially in hard times like we are facing right now.
Well, here we go again, another election and I still have not heard one intelligent remark by any of the candidates who participated in any of the debates regarding current events. In fact, the debates resembled a "mud slinging" contest more than anything.
