BATTLE MOUNTAIN - Everyone is happy that warmer weather is here. We had a very cold winter this year. The daffodils, hyacinths, tulips, and crocuses are starting to bloom. I hope they get some rain to encourage them to bloom.

John Cyr sentenced to suspended prison term and given probation

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - John Edward Cyr, 27, of Battle Mountain, was sentenced March 26 on a charge of attempt to commit a compound crime, a category E felony, in connection with a stolen firearms case.

KINGSTON - The Kingston Volunteer Fire Department held its fifth annual St. Patrick's Day Dinner at 6 p.m. at the Kingston Community Hall on March 16 and broke a record by selling 130 dinners, said Assistant Fire Chief Bradley Ward. St. Patrick's Day fell on March 17.
