Shooter given max sentences for two charges

Terms will run concurrent

WINNEMUCCA - Nicholas Henry Holley, who was arrested in October on suspicion of shooting at a victim on a front porch in Winnemucca, was sentenced Monday to 28 to 72 months in prison for two separate charges: discharging a firearm at or into a structure and assault with a deadly weapon.

Reserve officer recognized for 20 years of service

MICHAEL MICHAELSEN • Special to the SunWinnemucca Police Reserve Officer David Simsek was awarded a Distinguished Volunteer Service Cross by Chief Eric Silva at the city council meeting Tuesday for 20 years of exemplary law enforcement service to the Winnemucca Police Department. WPD awards the service cross for "outstanding volunteer service provided by Reserve members who improve the department and its services to the community."

WINNEMUCCA - Humboldt County Sheriff's deputies Kevin Malone and Kathy Green arrested Jared Alan Holm and John Anthony Ritter Wednesday on suspicion of multiple meth-related charges after an investigation into a property crimes case, according to an HCSO news release.

The piece was created to go on stage when the band "Kreating Khaos" is playing. The artwork now on display at the Humboldt Museum in Winnemucca represents the wide-ranging creativity of students in the school district. The art show opened last week to fanfare, attracting parents, school district officials, teachers and others. The student artwork will be on display through March during normal museum hours.
