WINNEMUCCA - The Humboldt County School District will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 4:30 p.m. at the district office boardroom, 301 E. Fourth St.
WINNEMUCCA - Dominic Cassinelli, age 31, a resident of Pershing County, and an employee of the Winnemucca Police Department, was arrested Jan. 2, 2013, by the Nevada Department of Public Safety Investigation Division from Carson City following a lengthy investigation, according to a news release from WPD.
WINNEMUCCA - Judge Richard Wagner will be at the Courthouse this Monday morning to attend to the swearing in of one new and two returning Humboldt County Commissioners. Marlene Brissenden, Mike Bell, and Garley Amos will be sworn in at 8:30 a.m. The first Humboldt County Commission meeting of the year will begin at 9:30.

WINNEMUCCA - The Humboldt County Library presents "Geographical Divides: Finding Common Ground" featuring 16 artists who were asked to explore the geographical and cultural differences in Nevada, if such differences truly exist. The assembly of printmakers - eight from the north, eight from the south - produced two prints from each collaboration. The exhibit will open Jan. 14 and continue until March 8.
AMY SMITH • The Humboldt Sun The Hope Tree is now ready and waiting for donations at The Frugal Flamingo Thrift Store in Winnemucca. The Hope Tree will provide funding for a newly-formed grief support group which provides counseling to children as young as age two, and including their families. Efforts are spearheaded through the local Frontier Community Action Agency. The Frugal Flamingo is open 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday, and is located at 720 E. Fourth St., Winnemucca. BLM Winnemucca District is asking for written comments regarding an Environmental Assessment being completed by the Humboldt River Field Office for an amended plan of operations submitted by Marigold Mining Company. The amended plan will modify existing and authorized operations.
The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is offering a Continuing Education Workshop and Pesticide Applicator Training on Wed., Jan. 30 from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The training will be held live in Reno and available via videoconference in 11 other locations throughout Nevada.
WINNEMUCCA - Trevor Otto Heitman and Christian Huber, who were arrested on Aug. 6 following a motorcycle wreck on May 9 that left them and two passengers injured, pleaded guilty Monday to reckless driving causing substantial bodily harm, a category B felony.
