WPD: Officer on administrative leave during investigation

WINNEMUCCA - A Winnemucca police officer has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation of allegations concerning the officer's off-duty conduct, according to a press release from the Winnemucca Police Department.

34th annual Basque Festival kicks off local special event season

The 34th annual Basque Festival took place last weekend at the Winnemucca Convention Center. Events included everything from the first parade of summer to other favorites such as games of strength and endurance, the traditional sheepherder's picnic and Saturday night's popular dance featuring local artist/drummer Martin Maestrejuan. Caller phones in bomb threat to jail

WINNEMUCCA - Personnel at the Humboldt County dispatch center received a telephone call Tuesday on a 911 line from a male caller who made a threat to blow up the jail. After making the threat, which happened about 4:30 p.m., the caller disconnected, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Council to consider bids for street project

WINNEMUCCA - The Winnemucca City Council will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday beginning at 2 p.m. at City Hall, 90 W. Fourth St.The meeting begins with the call to order, Pledge of Allegiance, correction and possible approval of the June 5 regular meeting minutes and possible approval of warrants.
