WINNEMUCCA - So far Lowry Leadership has accomplished a lot in the 2011/2012 year. They've done back to school activities, monthly committees, a tail gate party, Homecoming and much more! According to Mrs. Grady, one of the leadership advisers, probably the most publicized event was the tail gate party during the Homecoming football game.
WINNEMUCCA - This month we had four students of the month who all show great qualities of leadership and other fantastic qualities needed to succeed and help others succeed as well.
CARSON CITY - Winnemucca Publishing earned several awards during this year's Better Newspaper Contest sponsored by the Nevada Press Association.The awards were presented during the NPA's annual banquet Oct. 15 at Piper's Opera House in Virginia City.
WINNEMUCCA - The Humboldt County Regional Planning Commission will hold their next meeting on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the courthouse meeting room.
WINNEMUCCA -An alarm at Reliable Hardware, 930 W. Winnemucca Blvd., was tripped by an intruder on Oct. 14 at approximately 6 a.m. According to a press release from the Winnemucca Police Department, officers were close to the premises and did respond to the business very quickly. The intruder's activities were disrupted and he/she fled the area.

WINNEMUCCA - Walmart honors teacher achievement annually, and this year it was French Ford Middle School teachers' turn. A special assembly was held on Oct. 14 at FFMS to celebrate with both staff and students alike.
WINNEMUCCA - An unknown suspect set what appeared to be an intentional fire in the second floor men's bathroom at the Winnemucca Convention Center on Oct. 15 at approximately 11:26 p.m., according to a press release from the Winnemucca Police Department. At the time, there was a dance in progress with approximately 200 people in attendance.
WINNEMUCCA - Judge Michael Montero filed his order denying a motion to suppress evidence in the case of Garth Foster. Foster was arrested March 17 by the Nevada Highway Patrol for transporting a controlled substance.
WINNEMUCCA - Gary Lee Robinson decided to enter a guilty plea agreement for three felony charges rather than go to trial.
