Nevada's unemployment rate held steady in July at 7.7 percent, but is still 2.2 percentage points lower than last July. Las Vegas' unemployment rate edged up to 8.2 percent. However, the unemployment rates in both Carson City and Reno remained at their June levels. Carson City's July reading was 7.9 and 7.3 percent in Reno.

The Community Garden, located at 151 McArthur Avenue, is hosting the event Sept. 19 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and it features a two kilometer run/walk, splash pools, an agility course, and meeting adoptable shelter dogs. (Jipangu) plan to expand operations at the existing Florida Canyon Mine. The Florida Canyon Mine is approximately 45 miles southwest of Winnemucca and 35 miles northeast of Lovelock in Pershing County.
