RSVP provides comprehensive support system

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is a self-sponsored nonprofit that provides assistance to senior citizens and disabled people and has a group of volunteers in Winnemucca to provide essential services to those people.

Commissioners issue grant to help with flu clinic

Humboldt County Commissioners gave Community Health a grant to pay the cost for use of the Indoor Events Center for this coming fall's planned drive-through flu vaccination clinic. Community Health Nurse Lori Savoie shared information on last year's flu vaccination effort in the community. 746 people were vaccinated during the drive-through clinic Oct. 26 at the Indoor Events Center - up about 100 people from the year before.

Daniel Draper gets 30 years in prison

Sentencing held April 21 in Reno

Daniel James Draper of the Battle Mountain area was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for two charges to run consecutively, resulting in 30 years in prison. The sentence is the maximum allowed under federal law and there is no chance of parole.

Nevadans who had trouble signing up for insurance have until May 30 to enroll

CARSON CITY - Nevada Health Link is reminding all Nevadans who were unsuccessful in signing up for health insurance on the NevadaHealthLink.com website because of technical issues that it's not too late to finish the process. Those who had problems trying to sign up for health insurance during the regular enrollment period have until May 30, 2014, due to a special enrollment period enacted by the Exchange.
