IMLAY - A reception was held for Oreana artist Carolyn Baker July 14 at the Star Peak Art Retreat in Imlay. Baker has over 50 pieces of artwork on exhibit at the retreat until the end of July.
TONY ERQUIAGA • The Humboldt SunOn Monday, July 15, a female driver was driving a 16-passenger van headed westbound on Interstate 80 near mile marker 182 when she crossed the median, both eastbound lanes, and into the sagebrush on the east side, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. The vehicle then caught on fire and burned to the ground. The van was carrying seven passengers and there were no serious injuries. The driver was transported to the hospital for observation, treated and released. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, according to NHP.

WINNEMUCCA - The Missoula Children's Theater brings their weeklong drama camp to Winnemucca July 22 - 29. "Alice in Wonderland" rehearsals start July 22 at 10 a.m. at Winnemucca Grammar School.
WINNEMUCCA - Nevada's big game tags have a new look for 2013 and there are two important changes hunters need to be aware of before heading afield. Attached to each tag is a two-part transportation permit that no longer requires hunters to seek out a game warden or other state wildlife official in order to make the necessary legal arrangements to transport harvested big game. Another addition is a signature line that must be completed before hunting. Without the tag holder's signature, the tag is invalid.
WINNEMUCCA - Michael Root has worked at Sonoma Industries since early 1985, and at age 66 he has made the decision to retire, becoming the first-ever Sonoma Industries retiree. He proudly says that he's worked in the thrift store, operating the cash register, processing the donated items, loading the trucks that take unsold items away for use elsewhere, and helping customers as well as working at different jobs for businesses who contract with Sonoma Industries - such as washing workers' coveralls for the mines and washing windows around town.
