Winter surveys point to good news for Nevada's big game hunters

RENO - Ken Gray, Eastern Region supervising biologist in Elko, reported his field biologists completed elk surveys and classified 10,384 elk this winter. This was a record elk survey for the region surpassing the 2010 sample by 1,005 elk.

High school students give Spanish lesson

Amie Godinez's Lowry High School Spanish 4 class visited French Ford Middle School fifth-grade classes Wednesday and taught the middle-schoolers a Spanish lesson on ice cream sundaes. Godinez said her class does this five times each school year and her students enjoy doing something different out of the normal schedule. She said it also gives them a chance to see what it takes to put together a lesson plan. Godinez said the fifth-grade students love having the high school students teach their class.
