RENO — Two Nevada Football contests were selected for national broadcast and three more kick times for the campaign were set, as TNT Sports and the Mountain West Conference announced a multi-year agreement for a full slate of live college football games to air exclusively on truTV and Max beginning this season.
After taking the month of July off, the Winnemucca Junior High School girls basketball team will hold a few more open gyms for the upcoming season. All girls interested are encouraged to attend.

On Saturday June 29, Lovelock hosted their league's last swim meet of the summer. Even with hundreds of swimmers and 66 events, the day was a success thanks to Pat Rowe, the athletes, lifeguards and volunteers. The swimmers ranged in age from toddlers to teens. The Lovelock team wore red and black. Yerington (the Desert Foxes) wore purple. Both squads looked at home in the water.
The long high school rodeo season is hitting an end with the beginning of the National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyo., on Sunday. The rodeo runs through July 20, with the top 20 finals. A number of cowboys and cowgirls from the Humboldt County and Battle Mountain rodeo clubs will compete.
CARSON CITY — The Biden-Harris administration, through the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA), announced that the Nevada Lithium Batteries and Other EV Material Loop (“The Loop”) consortium led by the University of Nevada Reno, in the Carson City-Reno region was designated as one of the 31 inaugural Tech Hubs in regions across the country that show potential for rapid growth in key technology sectors.
On July 4, the Cattlewomen hosted one of Lovelock’s most beloved summer events - the annual children’s parade. About three dozen children celebrated American independence with parents walking alongside the youngest of them. In their childhood, some of the parents marched the same route as their little ones.
Nevada is experiencing a push for a self-contained “lithium loop,” where the Silver State would be home to all stages of the process of turning the “white gold” ore into electric batteries for cars and other uses. Nevada is well on its way to closing that loop but still has a way to go, said Greg Kidd, a non-partisan candidate for Nevada’s 2nd U.S. House District seat. The investor/entrepreneur, running in Nevada for the first time, would push the “lithium loop” concept in Washington D.C. if elected. “You’ve got both the start and the tail end of the dog there,” Kidd said recently on Nevada Newsmakers.

When an active wildfire moves too close to NV Energy equipment, an emergency de-energization of the power lines will take place. This process allows NV Energy to make the most effective decisions, avoid additional fire risk and protect first responders.

LAS VEGAS – El Aero Services, LLC has entered into a civil settlement agreement pursuant to which it has agreed to pay over $2.1 million dollars for fire response and suppression costs arising out of the Sheep Creek Fire in 2018.
State lawmakers approved about $1.3 million of funds for educator raises at two rural school districts. Mineral and Pershing counties were the final two school districts to apply for a share of the $250 million matching fund that was meant to incentivize raises for district educators and was created by Democratic state lawmakers.
