Battle Mountain track and field team travels to Fallon Elks Invitational


The Battle Mountain High School track and field team traveled to the Fallon Elks Invitational this past Saturday to compete with a number of teams from Northern Nevada.

Olivia Lemaire tossed a personal best of 26 feet 0.5 inches in the shot put to place seventh.

The senior also set a personal best in the discus at 47-8. Lindsey Bleak earned an eighth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 27-3.50 and freshman Hailee Cook placed 11th in the long jump (13-0.50). 

Sophomore Sonja Sherve left Fallon with personal bests in the 3,200 meters (16:23.45) and the 1,600 meters (7:25.07). She finished 11th in the 3,200 meters. 

The 4x100 relay of Bleak, Kendall Mudd, Cook and Taylor Clark were ninth with a time of 57.50.

For the Longhorn boys, senior Ben George placed eighth in the discus with a throw of 108-9, with teammate Andres Molina 11th at 104-2.

 Hunter Gilbert set a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 34-8, as did teammate Kale Black at 33-4.50.

Alex Wall finished 12th in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-2 and was 13th in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 19.23. Freshman Moroni Colver placed sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:31.37.

Battle Mountain hosts its meet on Friday at Tim Knight Field at 9 a.m.
