Tobey wins shot put at Dust Devil Invitational

The McDermitt High School track and field team made its way to Dayton this past Friday for the Dust Devil Invitational.

Senior Laeloni Tobey took home the top spot in the shot put with a throw of 28 feet, 2.75 inches and she finished third in the discus with a personal best throw of 69-6.

Cierra Smart set a personal best in the shot put to place fifth with a toss of 24-11.5 and the sophomore was seventh at 69-6. Reign Crutcher finished 12th in the discus with a throw of 61-3.

Sophomore Kiarra Crutcher finished sixth in the discus (24-9.75), 12th in the discus (61-3), which was a personal best an 18th in the long jump with a leap of 9-8.

On the boys side, Shandon Camas set a personal best in the discus to place in the runner-up spot with a throw of 105-1. The sophomore placed third in the shot put (36-8), also a personal best mark.

Chris Scott placed 10th with a mark of 33-5 in the triple jump and Casen Crutcher was 29th in the long jump at 10-8.

AJ Farmer set personal bests in the shot put (22-1.5) and the discus (84-2) to finish seventh and eighth, respectfully. Jeremiah Horn did the same as his teammate, finishing seventh in the discus with a throw of 88-5 and eighth in the shot put (33-0.75).

In his first high school meet, freshman Dylan Jackson was 31st in the shot put and 33rd in the discus. 

McDermitt travels to Fallon on Saturday for the Fallon Elks Invitational.
