December 21

In the case of Timothy Richard Privett, charged with Possession of Stolen Property. Defendant entered a No Contest plea to the charge and the court accepted and ruled as follows: Fined $1,140 which were converted to jail time and given credit for time served. 


In the case of Dawson G. Barnes, charged with, 1: Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sale, 2: Possession of a Controlled Substance – 2 counts, 3: Abuse older or Vulnerable Person – 1st Offense, 4: Obtain and Use Personal Identity Information of Older or Vulnerable Person, 5: Grand Larceny, 6: Fraudulent Use of Credit or Debit Card w/out Consent of Cardholder-6 Counts, 7: Ex-Felon in Possession of a Firearm – 10 Counts, 8: Possess, Manufacture, or Dispose of Short-Barreled Rifle or Shotgun. 

The state, represented by DDA Steve Girardot, made motion for one time dismissal pursuant to statue. No objection from counsel. Court dismissed case based on motion made by state. Bail Bond is exonerated.


December 26

In the case of Makayln West, charged with Petit Larceny. The county offered one exhibit, which was marked and admitted w/out objection. It was stated by DDA Shane Bell that the victim in this matter is seeking restitution but was not present for statement.

After hearing from all parties, the court ruled as follows: Fined $1,140 to be converted to jail time and given credit for time served. $48.49 in restitution to Walmart is to be paid in full by March 1, 2024. Defendant is released from custody on this case only.


December 28

In the case of Chad Harbeson, charged with Domestic Battery. Pursuant to negotiation, DDA Steve Girardot amended the criminal complaint to Battery w/ a Deadly Weapon, which was acknowledged by all parties. 

The defendant entered a No Contest plea to the amended charge. 

The court canvassed his plea and accepted the same. After hearing from all parties, the court ruled as follows: Fined $1,140 converted to jail time and given credit for time served. Defendant is released from pretrial services. 


In the case of Codie Joann Van Someren, charged with Injury to or Destruction of Property. DDA Steve Girardot made motion for a one time dismissal due to lack of service of the victim in this matter. 

Without objection from defense, the court accepted the motion. 


In the case of Lucas Stephen Schweizer, charged with Unlawful Trespass Upon Land. Defendant entered a Guilty plea which was canvassed and accepted by the court. A joint recommendation of $500 in restitution is ordered to Humboldt County. 

The defendant was fined $195, which is suspended for one year on the condition of no new violations other than minor traffic. Defendant is to pay restitution by monthly payments of $100 beginning February 1, 2024. Defendant is released from pretrial services.


In the case of Lucas Stephen Schweizer, charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. DDA Steve Girardot amended complaint to NRS 454.351 which was acknowledged by all parties. Defendant entered Guilty plea to the amended charge which was canvassed and accepted by the court. 

After hearing from all parties, the court ruled as follows: Fined $1,140 with $450 converted to jail time and given credit for time served. 

The remaining $690 is suspended for a period of one year on the condition of no new violations other than minor traffic. Defendant is released from pretrial services.


In the case of Jeremy Lewis Wilks, charged with Grand Larceny of a Motor Vehicle. A Global Resolution to dismiss this case was presented to the court. Bond exonerated.


In the case of Jeremy Lewis Wilks, charged with Resisting a Public Officer. Defendant entered a No Contest plea which was canvassed and accepted by the court. Pursuant to Global Resolution, the parties stipulated to credit time served in lieu of fines and fees.

John Matthew Austin Shuster, age 36, was arrested for Warrant. Bail $5,000.


December 28

Levi Randall Egger, age 43, was arrested for Child Endangerment – 3 Counts. Bail $7,500.


Levi Randall Egger, age 43, was arrested for Domestic Battery – 2 Counts. Bail $6,000.


December 29

Daniel Smith, age 36, was arrested for Domestic Battery. Bail $3,000.


December 31

Antonio Tafoya Ortega, age 31, was arrested for, 1: DUI – 1st Offense, 2: Drive Right Half Required. Bail $1,255.


Daron Ralph Hauser, age 41, was arrested for, 1: Domestic Battery – 1st Offense-Simple, 2: Prevent Victim from Calling 911. Bail $8,000.
