Regional championships for wrestling are this weekend


Just like that the postseason is upon us for high school wrestling. Regional championships throughout the state will take place this weekend.

Lowry High School will head to Spring Creek on Friday and Saturday. The Buckaroos are coming of a 10-1 performance at the Northern 3A Duals in Fallon last weekend.

Action begins Friday at Spring Creek High School at 4 p.m. The championship quarterfinals and two consolation rounds will take place Friday. Wrestling resumes at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Each team is permitted to enter one competitor per weight class plus an additional four extra/independent qualifiers.

The top four finishers in each weight class in both the Class 3A Northern and Southern meets advance to the Class 3A NIAA state championships.

The Northern 2A Regional is championship will be Saturday only at 9 a.m. at Pershing County High School in Lovelock. Battle Mountain claimed the Northern 2A Dual championship last Friday in Battle Mountain.
