Nevada Department of Transportation hiring for paid summer internships


CARSON CITY – The Nevada Department of Transportation is looking ahead to the summer road construction season by accepting applications for paid summer internships.

Applications are being accepted for approximately 70 internship positions in Carson City, Reno, Las Vegas, Elko, Ely, Tonopah and Winnemucca.

Applicants must be a high school graduate and currently enrolled in a college degree program. Applications can be submitted through Feb. 27, but applicants are encouraged to apply quickly, as recruitments may close at any time based on the number of applicants.

Applications can be submitted by sending a resume and transcript to hhardcastle@dot.nv.gov by Feb. 27.

The internship program allows students to gain on-the-job training in civil and environmental engineering, including highway construction, highway maintenance and asset management, as well as traffic engineering, environmental stewardship, business management and more. NDOT seeks students working toward degrees in civil engineering, environmental engineering, business, accounting, construction management, political science, hydrology, cybersecurity, information technology, or closely related fields.

The internships take place May through August 2024 and pay up to $21 per hour, depending on education and experience.

With a mission to help keep Nevada safe and connected, NDOT builds, operates and maintains more than 5,000 miles of state roads and approximately 1,200 bridges.
