Local man uses social media app to assault, threaten minors

On April 2, 2024, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division received information that a male adult, identified as Brendan Foster who is 28 years of age, had been engaging in sexual activities with female juveniles under the age of 16 years after using the “Snapchat” social media platform to initiate contact and meet with the victims.  

As this investigation evolved, it was also alleged Foster had been using “Snapchat” to threaten his victims with the use of substantial bodily harm if they reported the alleged sexual offenses and he had stolen a handgun from a member of his family.

On April 6, 2024, at around 12:15p.m., Deputies from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office stopped Foster on a traffic stop to detain him in reference to the investigation. Foster initially stopped; however, he fled in the vehicle and a pursuit ensued. 

Foster fled from Deputies into a desert area and abandoned the vehicle in a ravine and fled on foot.  A coordinated search operation was initiated, involving multiple law enforcement agencies and resources to locate and apprehend the suspect. After thorough efforts, the suspect was successfully located and arrested in West Wendover, Nevada, with the assistance of the West Wendover Police Department.

Brendan Foster is currently being held at the Humboldt County Detention Center on charges of NRS 200.366 Sexual Assault Against Child Under Sixteen, 201.230 Lewdness with a Child Under Sixteen (By Person Over 18 years Old), 484B.550 Stop required upon signal of peace officer (Eluding), and NRS 205.226.2 Grand larceny of a firearm with a bail of $260,000.00.

The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office is currently conducting an ongoing investigation into the alleged offenses.  Due to the sensitive nature of the case and to protect the identities of the victims, no further details are being released at this time.
