One of the longest standing records in Nevada High School softball was broken by Lowry High School junior Savannah Stoker at the NIAA 3A State Softball Championship in Mesquite.

Stoker hit her 21st home run of the year to break the single-season record of 20, which was held by Reed’s Michelle Palaroan in 1991 and then tied by Laughlin’s Brittany Chase in 2010.

Stoker hit seven home runs in the final two weeks of the season in the regional and state championships.

Stoker has 40 career home runs with her senior season still left to be played. The 40 homers are tied for third most with Spanish Springs’ Amanda Collier (2005-08) and Lake Mead’s Josey White (2015-18)

Chase (2007-10) holds the state record at 46.

Former Buckaroo, Sydney Connors (2016-19) is second on the list with 43 and holds the Lowry school record for career home runs.
