The Pershing County High School softball team had a lot to celebrate last Tuesday. 2A Coach of the Year, Jordan McKinney, introduced each of them as they gathered on the auditorium stage for awards night.

The Mustangs finished their season at 18-0 in the 2A Northern. They competed at the state tournament in Reno.

Marya Burke won the "Heart and Hustle Award" for her hard work and positive attitude.

The "Coach's Award" went to Raegan Burrows for stepping up in an emergency and catching at the regional and state tournaments.

The Mustangs earned ten All-Conference Awards. Miya Gallagher, Kyra Cerini, and Riley Harvey collected Honorable Mentions. Burrows and Yasmine McKinney made the second team. Mady Grenz, Anna Happy, Aaliyah Allen and Kaylen Halverson earned first team honors.

The 2A Coaches named Taylor Garland the Player of the Year.

"I can't express how proud I am of these girls and their perseverance this season. Being undefeated in conference is a huge feat and they were up for it. They came to the field everyday for practice ready to work," McKinney said.

"It paid off. The season did not end the way we wanted or expected but I couldn't be any happier with what they accomplished."
