Esquivel finishes sixth at 3A State Boys Golf Championship

Lowry High School’s Landon Esquivel finished sixth at the NIAA 3A State Boys Golf Championship held May 16-17 at Toiyabe Golf Club in Washoe Valley,

Esquivel shot rounds of 84 and 86 for a two-day total of 170.

Esquivel was the only Lowry player in the state tournament. He was a all-league, first-team selection in the Northern 3A this year.

Truckee won the state team title with scores of 352 and 346 for a 698.

They were the only team to break 700. Fernley was second at 708 and Legacy (714), Elko (730), Pahrump Valley (736) and Boulder City (749) rounded out the team scores.

Legacy’s Vincent Kyle Forbes won the individual title at 154 with rounds of 75 and 79. 

Fernley’s Jacob Holmes was second with a 161, including a 78 on day two.

Truckee’s Reed Loper (162) and Luke Brown (167) were third and fourth, respectively, and Elko’s Scott Hutnyak (168) placed fifth.
