Battle Mountain NNA swim team competes in Reno


Three members of the Battle Mountain Northern Nevada Aquatic swim team was in Reno from June 23-25 for the Reno Aquatic Club Gamble. Lightning delays played havoc with the schedule on June 25.

Nevaeh Serna placed sixth in the girls 12 and under 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1 minute, 20.16 seconds, a 5.76-second improvement. She took nearly four seconds off to place seventh in the 50-meter backstroke at 37.12 and six seconds in the 100-meter freestyle to finish ninth with a time of 1:12.78.

She placed 10th in the 200-meter freestyle (2:43.51) and was 15th in the 50-meter freestyle.

Serna took off 11 seconds in the 200-meter individual medley to place seventh with a time of 3:01.17 and she chopped off five seconds in the 100-meter butterfly to finish eighth at 1:32.69.

Saige Bakker took off nine seconds in the girls 12 and under 200-meter freestyle to finish 31st with a time of 3:55.87. 

She finished 27tg in the 50-meter backstroke (54.28) and erased 22 seconds off her time in the 50-meter breaststroke to finish 37th at 1:11.70.

Baker finished 31st in the 100-meter freestyle (1:49.49) and 34th in the 100-meter backstroke (2:06.05).

Daxon Bakker knocked off nearly three seconds in the boys 100-meter backstroke to place ninth with a time of 1:52.30. 

He took off nearly 21 seconds in the 200-meter freestyle to place seventh at 3:23.58 and he was ninth in the 50-meter backstroke (50.12), a 5.53-second improvement. 

Bakker finished 10th in the 100-meter breaststroke (2:18.50) and 11th in the 100-meter freestyle (1:36.32), a 6.11-second improvement.
