Winter-spring Senior Center news

We had a special gathering where we presented the Senior of the Year award to Sherrill Keenen. She has been special at the center with her friendship to all. She participates with enthusiasm in all activities we do. She is also a special artist. We gather twice a month for art and she will help those that need extra advice. I guess when her and John were in Montana she was part of a group where she was able to learn a lot from them. The clock award was presented to her from the Voluntary Council. She states that it is a pretty clock that keeps good time. Now she can’t be late for events.

Weather this May has been very cold and windy. The wind has not stopped blowing day or night for two weeks. We had snow on the ground a few days ago. I hear that Wells and Winnemucca also had snow. It looks like we can’t put our winter cloths away yet. Many of the sheep and cows are delivering their lambs and calves now. I guess we can be happy for the warmth of the sun. Trees are waiting for the ground to warm up to bud out.

My cacti has many buds waiting to open. They are a very bright pink-rose color. I will take a picture of them in bloom.

Our cooks are very busy preparing meals for homebound at 10:30, drive ups at 11:00 and those that eat inside the Senior Center at noon. I think all meals are excellent. Come join us if you can.

Bingo is the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. Everyone has fun. It starts at 12:40 each day
