BMHS knocked out of regional with two losses

The Battle Mountain High School baseball team saw its season come to and this past weekend at the Northern 2A Regional Championships in West Wendover, with a pair of losses.

Battle Mountain opened with No. 2 seed North Tahoe this past Friday and the Lakers came away with a 4-3 victory. 

After three scoreless innings, North Tahoe plated a run in the fourth inning to lead 1-0 and added two more in the fifth to stretch the advantage to 3-0.

Held scoreless for six innings, Battle Mountain rallied to tie the game in the seventh inning, but North Tahoe came back with the walk-off winner in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The season for Battle Mountain came to an end later on Friday, as West Wendover beat the Longhorns 9-6. 

The Wolverines fought through the loser’s bracket to beat North Tahoe as well and qualify for the state tournament, along with regional champion Yerington.
