McDermitt track and field competes at Lowry

The McDermitt High School track and field team made the short trip south on US 95 to the Lowry High School Invitational on Saturday to close out the regular season,

McDermitt junior Cayla Crutcher finished in the runner-up spot in the shot put with a toss of 29 feet, .50 inches. Elko’s Johanna Rivera won with a throw of 29-11.50. Crutcher was fourth in the discus at 74-8.

Freshman Laeloni Tobey placed 10th on the discus with a personal-best throw of 64-0 and she was 12th in the shot put at 22-5.50.

Sophomore Nicolette Northrup placed 13th in the shot put (22-0_ and 15th in the discus (60-7).

On the boys side, Braeden Ramsey was seventh on the 800 meters with a personal-best time of 2 minutes, 32.95 seconds. The senior was 16th in the 100-meter dash at 13.41.

Lane Barnett ran a personal-best 14.27 in the 100 meters to place 20th and another personal best in the 200 meters in a time of 30.50 to place 21st. Barnett placed 18th in the shot out with a personal-best toss of 30-9. 

Fellow senior, Enrique Villalobos had a personal-best throw of 103-1 in the discus to place 11th, to go with a 16th-place finish in the shot put at 32-0. Tristan Bitt had a personal best in the discus at 88-7 and Jeremiah Horn was 21st in the discus (68-5.50) and 22nd in the shot put (26-2), which was a personal best for the sophomore.

McDermitt travels to Sparks and Reed High School on Friday and Saturday for the Northern 1A Regional Championships.
