Obituary: James Willis Nunnery

James Willis Nunnery passed away on April 30, 2022, at his home in Battle Mountain, Nevada at the age of 59.

He was born on June 22, 1962, to William McKay Nunnery and Sarah Ellen May in Hickory, North Carolina.

He married Betty Jean Dionne on March 23, 1985, together the two shared 37 years, many memories and 2 children, Sarah and Kirk.

The family moved around frequently due to his work in construction but finally settled in Battle Mountain in 2007.

He worked for The Industrial Company (TIC) for roughly 25 years and then for Schmueser and Associates and then Iron Woman. He was a hard worker and loved his line of work.

James loved going shooting, off-roading, trail riding, fishing, having BBQs with his friends and family, working on his Jeep, but he most enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids, and grandkids.

On his days off, you could always find him with his family in their Jeeps and off-road vehicles exploring all that Nevada has to offer.

He was a big teddy bear of a person.

He had the biggest heart and would help anyone he could. He was the life of the party wherever he went because of his love of life.

When it came to his family time, that was his main goal in life. His family and friends were always very important to him.

James is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Nunnery, his children, Sarah Ellen (Timothy Meredith) Nunnery and Kirk McKay (Dolores) Nunnery. His grandchildren, James Nunnery, Alexzander Thornton, Elizabeth Nunnery, Gabriel Nunnery, Victoria Nunnery, and Baby Boy Nunnery on the way!

He is survived by his brother, Donald Nunnery and sister, Vickie Nunnery.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Sarah Nunnery.

There will be a Celebration of Life BBQ and Memorial Trail Ride on May 28, 2022, in Battle Mountain, Nevada.

A GoFundMe has been set up for his wife, Betty. https://gofund.me/69754484
