WINNEMUCCA— The Humboldt River Field Office will reopen the upper portion of the Water Canyon Recreation Area today. The remaining ice on the section of road through the upper recreation area has melted and is now open for vehicle travel.
“We are pleased to announce the ice has finally melted off of the upper portion of the recreation area road and is now safer for automobile traffic,” said Humboldt Field Office Manager, Kathleen Rehberg.
Please use caution if you are driving in the recreation area as roads will be muddy. Traffic has also increased due to warmer weather. As the weather continues to improve, the ruts in the road may increase as will the need for maintenance and grading.
