It was the last day of winter and felt like it. The Pershing County track and field team competed in the Mark Smith “Smitty” track on Saturday. Sunday, was the first day of spring.
“It was a long, rainy day,” said Cassidie Fuller. “The kids persevered, pushed through and ran against the terrible weather.”
Full results were not available at press time. But Brayden Wagner and Mariano Gonzalez set personal bests in the shot put at 31.4 and 30.10 feet respectively.
Wagner, Diego and Mariano Gonzalez each had personal bests in the discus. Wagner threw it 106 feet three inches. Diego Gonzalez threw it 88 feet and six inches. Gomez threw 59 feet 10 inches.
On Thursday, the track team goes to the Laker Invitational at Pyramid Lake High School.
