When it comes to community service projects, two clubs are better than one. Just ask the Lovelock Lions Club and the high school leadership club.

Eva Matuszyk has been advising the leadership club for two years. Currently, it consists of 14 members.

She asked the juniors and freshmen to create a service project for students in need.

Meanwhile, the seniors and sophomores were to create a project that served the community.

The juniors and freshmen decided to make Easter baskets the week of April 11. On April 14, they’ll distribute them to about 38 students who might otherwise go without.

The seniors and sophomores are organizing a food drive.

The leadership club earmarked $600 for the baskets and asked the Lions Club for a matching contribution.

Last week, Lions Club president Russell Fecht surprised the leadership club with a check for $700.
