Lowry High Scholl seniors Cal Peters and Zach Fernandez were named to the Northern 3A all-league second team and honorable mention team, respectively, which is chosen by the league’s coaches.
The Buckaroos went 15-11 this season and reached the semifinals of the Northern 3A regional tournament.
Peters led Lowry in scoring this season at just over nine points a game to go with seven rebounds a game. Fernandez averaged nearly five points a game and 2.6 assists a game.
Elko’s Michael Klekas was named the Northern 3A Most Valuable Player and joined on the Northern 3A first team by teammates Isaiah Dahl and Dawson Dumas. Fernley’s Carson Kingston and Jess Caudle, Wooster’s Christen Smith and South Tahoe’s Andrew Lehmann were also named to the first team.
Joining Peters on the Northern 3A second team was Wooster’s Jose Vazquez, Elko’s Andoni Fesenmaier, Dayton’s Isaiah Powell, Fernley’s Joshua Cartagena and Churchill County’s Kanigh Snyder.
Elko’s Chris Klekas was named the northern 3A and 3A State Coach of the Year, as The Indians won their first state title since 1981.
Klekas was named to the 3A all-state first team along with Dahl, Dumas and Kingston. The Southern 3A had Boulder City’s Gavin Douglas and Martin Thomas and Somerset Losee’s Roderick Johnson and Emiliyon Daniels on the all-state, first team.
Smith, Lehmann and Caudle were joined by Virgin Valley’s Benson Leavitt and Slam’s Andre Cade and Christian Ware on the all-state, second team.
The Northern 3A honorable mention team included Fernandez, Hug’s Joseph Freeman and Agustin Aguirre, Truckee’s Sam Purgason, Elko’s Trae Still, Churchill County’s Tyler Austin. Fernley’s Ryan Gamsby, Spring Creek’s Kayden Boyles, Spark’s Orande Todd, Wooster’s Kayden Quartz, North Valley’s Elijah Blythe and South Tahoe’s Aiden Walker.
