Pershing County High School wrestlers Devin Moura (132 pounds), Justin Carruth (126) and Wyatt Hughes (152) wrestled in Minden last weekend at the Douglas Invitational.
Carruth and Hughes, both freshmen, continue to gain experience as they deepen their commitment to the sport.
Moura placed second in his weight class.
He stated the day by pinning a Douglas opponent at 2:52 in the quarterfinals. Moura won his semifinal match against Lowry’s Gage Kinder by pin. The wins sent Moura to the first-place match where he lost a close contest.
“Devin placed second and lost by one point,” said Mike Brooks. “He had a good tournament.” Moura lost the championship bout to Logan Obert of Galena (Dec 4-3).
This weekend the wrestlers travel to the Vaquero Invitational in Fernley.
