LETTER TO THE EDITOR: U.S. is a Constitutional Republic

Fellow Citizens, this is something that we all should be considering with great care and con-templation.

Our Constitution was written and signed by some brilliant individuals. The part that I address here is Article IV, Section 4 which states, in pertinent part – “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican form of Government, ---".

Citizens, this is not currently the case. The following quotation states a significant part of where we are today much better than I can.

REPUBLIC vs. DEMOCRACY

“A Constitutional Republic not a Democracy. The idea of a Democracy is universal equality. The ideal of a Constitutional Republic is individual liberty.

A democracy always degenerates into a dictatorship which promises government guaranteed equality and security, but it de-livers nothing but poverty and serfdom for the people it robs and rules. America was founded as a Constitutional Republic to safeguard the liberty of the people against the tyr-anny of democracy or of one-man dictatorship. In this century (*) great strides have been made towards the goal of subverting our Republic into a democracy.

The foremost tactic of subverters is the subversion of language. By calling America a Democracy until people thoughtlessly accept and use the term the totalitarians have obscured the real meaning of our principles of Government.”  Author unknown.

So, my message is, Citizens, pay attention to what our Government is doing and more signif-icantly not doing and protect our freedoms and the freedoms of our descendants guaran-teed to the Citizens of the United States under our Constitution.

(*) Note: Author is referring to the middle 20th Century not the 21st Century albeit the prac-tice is continuing not only in Government but in all the media.
