Humboldt County’s largest parade will celebrate its 101st year Labor Day weekend with the theme “Hometown Harvest.”
Ag 3 Director Kim Petersen said entrants may interpret the theme as they see fit. “This will be a fun theme and a fun way for participants to celebrate our annual Tri-County Fair & Stampede.”
The Labor Day Parade—the event that officially kicks off each year’s Tri-County Fair & Stampede—has been scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, September 3.
Parade entries in a dozen different categories are now being accepted through 5 p.m. Monday, August 29.
The longtime event, which is sponsored by the Agricultural District No. 3., will begin at the Model T Resort Casino and will come to rest in the parking lot at the Winnemucca Events Complex. The parade will include the usual array of floats, mounts, marchers, clowns and politicians.
Parade awards and prize money will be awarded to winners of the Most Original and One Moccasin entries. Plaques and prize money will be awarded to first place winners in a dozen other categories, with rosettes going to second- and third-place winners.
Those categories include Hitch-Drawn Vehicles, Commercial, Non-Commercial, Novelty Group, Best Ethnic, Political, 12 Years and Under, Best Musical, Mounted Group, Walking Group, Mounted Individual and Autos of the Past.
Parade results will be announced at the 101st annual Labor Day Rodeo scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, September 3, at the Winnemucca Events Complex Main Arena Outside.
Entry forms are available for download at www.LaborDayFair.com or at the Winnemucca Convention Center. Entries will be accepted through 5 p.m. Monday, August 29. Late entries will be placed at the end of the parade and will not be judged.
