I-80 overnight closure coming in mid-June

I-80 will be completely closed between Battle Mountain exit 231 and Carlin exit 279 from 7 p.m. June 18, and 6 a.m. June 19 as part of a Nevada Department of Transportation interstate improvement project. Closure date is subject to change.

Drivers should plan to avoid I-80 travel during the closure.

During the closure, the aging bridge over I-80 Emigrant Pass will be demolished. The bridge will be replaced with a wider, modern bridge to make way for a future truck climbing lane. A new nearly three-mile truck climbing lane will be constructed in the eastbound direction over Emigrant Pass. An approximate five-mile truck climbing lane was constructed last year in the westbound direction.

Officials in northern Nevada are asked to share the information within their organization and with those who may be impacted by this closure.

Local government colleagues are also being asked to share the information with constituents and partners regarding the interstate closure by posting within facilities and on communications and social media.
