Saturday was a day of costumes in Winnemucca, starting with the second annual Fearless 5k Halloween Fun Run fundraiser for the Family Support Center in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Winnemucca who hosted the event. “A great time was had by all and the community really came together to support the event in attendance and in the donations we needed to hold the event,” said Family Support Center Board Member Shana Murdock. Participants won prizes for costumes and other categories, there were raffles, checkpoints, trick or treat and lunch available. Emergency responders participated in handing out candy along the route, including the Winnemucca Police Department, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, Winnemucca Rural Fire, Winnemucca City Fire and Humboldt General Hospital Emergency Services. The Family Support center is a private non-profit agency providing community-based, outpatient mental health and wellness services, offering treatment to support individuals and families in Winnemucca.
