PCHS football slams West Wendover

If the bus ride to West Wendover wore out the Mustangs, it didn’t show on the field. They traveled to Wolverine territory on Friday, Oct. 15. The final score was 40-0 in Lovelock’s favor.

With the win, Pershing improves to 4-2, overall, and 3-1, in the 2A northern league.

Devin Moura threw two touchdown passes, one to Noel Zaldivar and another to Ashton Nolf. According to coach Mike Brooks, Nolf performed well on both sides of the ball. Besides catching a touchdown pass, he rushed to the end zone and had a couple of pass deflections.

Noel Zaldivar and Izayuh McGlothin each returned an interception for a touchdown.

“We are proud of all the younger kids who had to step in and start their first varsity game for the Mustangs,” added the coach. “Tyrn Sam and Travis Donaldson started on defense and both played well.”

On Friday, Oct. 22, the Mustangs host rival school, Battle Mountain. JV plays at 4:30 p.m. Varsity follows at 7 p.m.

The Mustangs will celebrate senior night before the varsity game.

Pershing County ’s seniors include Devin Moura, Esteban Vidrio, Diego Gonzalez, Brayden Wagner, Ashton Nolf, Mariano Gomez, Nick Flores and Jose Jimenez.
