Obituary: Joshua Hill Harrer

Joshua Hill Harrer was born April 26th 1994 and was taken in a car accident at the age of 27 on October 7th 2021.

Josh grew up in Orovada Nevada with his sister Tess and parents Leo and Donna Harrer.

He attended grade school in Orovada and high school in McDermitt where he graduated in 2012.

He then attended Treasure Valley Community College where he college rodeoed.

Josh had a smile that would light up a whole room and a contagious laugh that no one could replicate.

There was not a stranger when Josh was somewhere as he made friends with absolutely anyone he came into contact with.

He loved with his whole heart and if you were lucky enough to be one of his family members or friends you got to experience that first hand.

He would give you the shirt off his back if it meant it would help you out more. His family was his everything.

Josh’s role models and heroes were his Mom, Donna, and Dad, Leo. Josh always loved coming home to them, they were his rock.

He admired his mother and father and took the role as Uncle Joshy with absolute certainty. He loved his niece McKenzie Rose fiercely and would do absolutely anything for her.

He was an amazing brother to not only his sister Tess and brother-in-law Tyson but to many other friends that became family.

He was the cowboy of all cowboys. He worked on numerous ranches in northern Nevada and made countless friendships over his travels. He loved riding bucking horses, roping horses, ranch rodeoing, dogging, team roping, branding calves, and breaking colts. He dabbled in a bit of everything and was dang good at anything he set his mind to.

He was one of the hardest workers around when it came down to it and he had all that worked with him continuously laughing. He lived life to the fullest, wild and free, and in the fast lane.

He was charismatic and could tell a story like no one before.

He had recently met Paige who won over his big heart and he was so happy to let people know she was with him.

Josh is survived by his parents Leo and Donna Harrer, Tyson and Tess Ellis and niece McKenzie Rose Ellis, Grandfather Larry Hill who he tormented daily but loved dearly, Grandmother Kathy Harrer and Aunt Susan Harrer who he thought the world of, loving Grandmother Jeanette James, loving Great Aunt Fran Jayo, and Mike, Hunter, and Gavin Quilici families. Josh was preceded in death by his Grandfather Roy Harrer and Grandmother Marilynn Hill.

A celebration of life will be held in Josh’s honor on Saturday, October 23rd, 2021 at the Orovada Community Hall in Orovada Nevada at 1 pm.

Please bring a side dish, salad, or dessert for the potluck. Along with any stories you would like to share.

Josh would want nothing more than for everyone to come together and celebrate the good times.

That big smile, those twinkling eyes and that deep belly laugh will be missed by so many. In lieu of flowers feel free to make a donation in Josh’s name to the McDermitt Ranch-hand Rodeo.
