Obituary: Marilyn Denise Stoddard

Marilyn Denise Stoddard “Denise” as she went by, passed Thursday November 4, 2021, at her home in Winnemucca Nevada.

Denise was born April 27, 1957 in Salt Lake City Utah, the daughter of Florence and Blaine Morrison. She was the oldest of five children.

Denise married Clyde Stoddard July 12, 1974 in Wells Nevada.

They resided in Georgetown Idaho for several years where they welcomed four children, before moving to Elko Nevada in 1986, where they welcomed their fifth child.

Denise loved her husband and children more than anything and devoted her life to her family. Denise often said that being a mother was her greatest blessing, becoming a grandmother may have beat even that. Denise was each of her grandchildren’s best friend and made each one of them feel like they were her favorite. No matter the day or how she was feeling she had a smile on her face for her family, and you could bet that at least one or two of her grandchildren were snuggled next to her.

Denise was the center of her family in every way and will be missed beyond words.

Denise is survived by her husband Clyde Stoddard, children Jason Stoddard of Elko Nevada, Joseph (Mary)Stoddard of Phoenix Arizona, Brooke Stoddard of Winnemucca Nevada, Heather (Brandon) McLaughlin of Winnemucca Nevada.

She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Edward Stoddard, Peyton Jo Cassinelli, Dante Cassinelli, Isabella Stoddard, Helena Stoddard. Natalia Cassinelli, Juliana Stoddard, Conor McLaughlin, Vivian Gillihan, Kian McLaughlin, and Havoc Twitchell. Mother Florence Leyba Morrison, siblings Michael Montoya, Brent Montoya, and Rose Hagen as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Denise was preceded in death by her father Blaine Morrison, brother Edward Morrison and son Matthew Cal Stoddard.

From her infectious laugh and smile to her red lipstick kisses and her love for literally everyone she met; Denise left a legacy that most of us only hope to leave.

There truly was never such a beautiful soul. She made everyone who was around her feel special and so loved. Funeral Services will be held Friday November 12, 2021, at the L.D.S. Church in Winnemucca Nevada. The viewing will be at 1:00 pm, with services at 2:00 PM.
