Dr. Andrew C. Wesley, M.D. will begin providing a pain management clinic at Humboldt General Hospital two days per week in Winnemucca as an independent contractor.
Humboldt General Hospital Board of Trustees voted Tuesday unanimously to approve a proposal to enter into an agreement with Wesley. Trustee Jennifer Hood was not present for the meeting and did not vote on the agenda item.
This agreement fills a gap previously identified and discussed by the board of trustees and hospital administration. Board of trustee members previously expressed support in the recruitment of a pain management specialist to serve Winnemucca so patients wouldn’t have to travel out of town for pain management services.
HGH CEO Karen Cole said Wesley’s clinical experience includes expertise and skills in the full spectrum of pain management treatment including but not limited to medication management, therapeutic spinal and peripheral nerve joint injections with imaging guidance, pain pumps, kyphoplasty and the management and treatment of common musculoskeletal and sports medicine injuries and disorders.
Wesley will initially provide clinic services two days per month and as patient volumes rise and physician workload allows, clinic days may increase.
Wesley is currently the director of pain management services at the William Bee Ririe Hospital in Ely, Nev. where he has provided clinic services since 2015. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology and Pain Management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
As of presstime, it was unclear when Wesley would begin providing services at the hospital.
