The Pershing County Middle School track and field team closed its season on Tuesday, May 21.
The Colts competed as part of the Tri-County League, against Winnemucca Jr. High and McDermitt.
“The meet ran smoothly and quickly with the smaller number of participants,” said Coach Mike Brooks. “Also thank you to all the volunteers for making the meet run perfectly.”
Cindy Plummer, the former middle school principal, volunteered through rain, hail and wind.
“Mother Nature must not know it’s springtime,” she said about the cold, windy and miserable weather. “But the kids had a blast.”
The Colts finished the season with about a dozen athletes.
“They were hard workers and had great attitudes,” said Brooks. “Many of them excelled at the larger meets. And every single kid improved.”
