The Jumpin June Drags were held on this past weekend at the Good Times Drag Strip.
The 1/8-mile paved drag strip has a state of the art wireless timing system, front row bleacher seating, unlimited access to the pits, and is located just six miles down Jungo Road.
Terrell Hunter came from Evanston, Wyo. to race his converted snowmobile for the second consecutive year in Winnemucca.
“I just got this chassis last year so that I can run on the quarter-mile NHRA tracks," Hunter said. "If I can just get the motor to hold on for that long. The track and the people in Winnemucca make coming down here and racing really fun. I like the adrenaline when the light starts dropping and there is not another care going on in the world. It is just you and the machine and the lights. My family has been doing this for a long time; my uncle is running the other sled. I got born into a bunch of adrenaline junkies and going fast is kind of our game.”
The Good Times Drag Strip will have racing in July and Oct. on dates TBA, and the Memorial Races will be held Sept. 6-7.
