The 41st annual Basque Festival was on full display last weekend at the Convention Center. A 5K run at the golf course kicked off the weekend on Friday night. On Saturday morning before noon, a parade down Winnemucca Boulevard began the celebration. Throughout Saturday, there were performances and contests along with Basque food and drinks served all day long. Sunday morning started with mass then followed with traditional Basque breakfast followed by dancers.
Parade winners were: 1st place goes to Boise Dancers, 2nd place went to Spring Creek – Lamoille Ardi Baltza and 3rd place goes to Winnemucca Advanced Irrintzi Dancers. Stephanie Bran, wood chopper, received “Honorable Mention”.
