The Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course was host to an exciting day of junior golf for 34 kids on a hot Wednesday July morning
Kobe Stoker carded a 79 for 18 holes to win the boys 15-17 year-old division. Bailey Hayes took the girls title with a 103.
Seventeen year-old Caden Rorex won the boys title last week and was back for more this week.
“That was my best score for 18 holes ever, so that was good." Rorex said. " I have been golfing for about five years now in junior tournaments and high school. I like hitting if far, that feels pretty good.”
The boys 11-13 year-old division resulted in Landon Esquivel (44) defeating Txema Bengochea (44) and Jaden Jimenez (44) in a three-way playoff. Piper Nichols (50) was the 11-13 year-old girls winner.
Laci Fentress (87) took out Finn Christean (87) in a girls 10-11 playoff, and Byron Jimenez (42) captured the 10-11 boys title.
Khlloe Shorey is 12 years-old and commented at the tournament.
“I have been golfing for six months and I like it because it gets rid of some stress," she said.
Junior golf tournaments continue every Wednesday throughout the summer.
