The staff at Battle Mountain High School continues to prepare for the new year, and several events are scheduled for incoming students and their parents.
Teachers have been getting their classrooms ready, and construction work has been done on the school.
Assistant Principal John Stern said, “Over the last month and a half, the school has been buzzing. Teachers are putting in time, getting their classrooms ready. There’s been quite a bit of activity, including some renovation. There was a berm removed in front of the school, new carpet installed in the entryway, and new paint. We have 95% of our teachers in place, and we’re excited for the new year.”
Stern said the school will sponsor a co-ed kickball tournament fundraiser on August 17 at Jim Stewart Softball Fields on Fairway Drive in Battle Mountain, and registration closes on August 9. The cost is $20 per person or $200 dollars per team, and those interested can drop off their team roster and payment to the school office. Contact John Stern at (775) 635-5436 or jstern@landernv.net. Proceeds will go towards Battle Mountain High School student athletes.
All student athletes must go to https://registermyathlete.com/ and register for the 2019 – 2020 sports season.
Free physicals will be available for 9th grade and 11th grade student athletes, and any new athletes on July 31, at 825 North Second Street. Students and parents can call 775-635-2386 and make their own appointments.
All incoming 9th-graders and new athletes in any grade must get a concussion test before going to try-outs. “We are asking all incoming 9th graders and new athletes to stop by Battle Mountain High School,” stated Stern.
