Rowdy Refs promise weekend of fantastic family fun

WINNEMUCCA — Pat Slusher is no novice to the belly-laughing business. After more than 30 years, he knows what audiences want. “Our biggest selling point is that we use lots and lots of people from the audience.”

What those audience members have to do, however, is what makes the “The Rowdy Referees Family Fun Game Show” such a blast.

From inviting folks to stuff balloons down their pants to throwing around cream pies, Slusher guarantees his wild concoction of game show stunts, balloons, mind-reading wonders and daring escapes will bring a new level of fun to the Tri-County Fair & Stampede.

In fact, Slusher said 20 unsuspecting youngsters and adults will be drawn into the fun during each show’s segment. “You can come see the show, or be the show,” he laughed. “The choice is yours.”

Slusher said the show will feature all the crazy stunts folks see on TV, but this time it will be family and friends who get to experience the fun first-hand. As always, Slusher will introduce some brand new stunts as well as a few great standbys. There will be plenty of prizes, fun and even a take-home trophy or two as well.

The show originally formed just a small part of other shows he produced, but Slusher said the Rowdy Refs segment became such a hit, he couldn’t help but share the giggles and the goo.

Now Slusher travels all over the country to corporate events, fairs and even schools with his show.

The Rowdy Refs will present five shows on the Main Stage Outside at the Winnemucca Event Center at 4 p.m. Friday, August 30; 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, August 31; and 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday, September 1. Each show will last about 45 minutes and is free to the public.
